An Unusual Use For Vaseline
January 31, 2009 by John · Leave a Comment
Further to our post about Vaseline here’s a rather unusual little story for you.
A Mr Richard Jones is still using the same umbrella that he bought 41 years ago for 7s 6d (about 37p). His secret for such a long lasting umbrella? An occasional coat of Vaseline!
I wonder what made him think of doing that in the first instance?
Organic Fiji Lotion Review
Here’s my first requested cosmetics review of the year – so many thanks go to Tori at Organic Fiji
Organic Fiji is a range of natural cosmetics made from certified, organic, virgin coconut oil using Fair Trade coconuts harvested in the South Pacific Islands. Coconut oil is apparently packed with deep moisturizing properties and it’s a natural anti-oxidant too. All good stuff!
I’ve tried the Cucumber Melon nourishing lotion a couple of times now after jumping out of the shower. First thing to notice is the smell of the lotion … mmm it’s really fresh and delicate! John liked it too, so that makes a change (he moans about the smell of my cocoa butter from Body Shop!).
The lotion itself isn’t runny nor too thick, though I did need to give the bottle a firm squeeze to put some in my palm. It applies well, absorbing quickly into my skin and not leaving a greasy after feel. Suffice it to say I’ll be finishing the bottle ![]()
The official UK website details all the products in the range and details why coconut oil is such a good natural ingredient. Having had a quick look I see that there’s a good selection of Organic Fiji available via amazon.
Crows Feet Corrector By Avon
January 28, 2009 by John · Leave a Comment
Sarah was rather taken with the Avon Anew Rejuvenate cream as mentioned here and then here. So, having just watched an ad on TV for Avon’s Crows Feet Corrector we’re wondering if this is another winner?
The product name suggests it kinda does what it says on the tin …correcting those lines around your eyes, commonly refered to as crows feet. Or laughter lines if you’re being polite. A picture can paint a thousand words so to save me typing reams of stuff here’s the ad to explain all
So, there you go. If we get hold of some soon we’ll do a review.
Don’t forget to use the discount ATD at checkout to receive free standard delivery when you spend £20 or more.
Soap and Glory Cosmetics
I happened to spot a little write up about Soap and Glory cosmetics – a new skincare business from Marcia Kilgore, the founder of Bliss.
The unique selling point of the brand are the names of the products – they’re all puns of well known phrases. So I’m guessing that Soap and Glory is a pun on Hope and Glory. The Endless Glove Hand Mask is a pun on Endless Love (as sung by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie). The lip gloss Sexy Mother Pucker …well you can work that one out for yourself (yes, it’s rather rude).
You’ll find the complete range of Soap and Glory online at Boots
