Vibe Straighteners - Vibrate For Straight

August 18, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

If you’ve been watching the first show of this years X Factor you might have caught site of the advert for the new Vibe Hair Straighteners?

In a market that is dominated by the likes of GHD and with leading manufacturers like BaByliss trying to get into the premium market with their Pro 230 Radiance irons it looks like Vibe is attempting to gate crash the party with a new idea - vibration. Apparently, the initial idea for these ground-breaking new hair straighteners originally came from the anciant Korean tradition for ironing clothes! People would beat out a rapid rhythm on their laundry until it was perfectly flat. Hair Tools have now taken this theory and used it in the Vibe vibrating straighteners.

The variable temperature (100 - 210 degrees c) compares well with GHD and Vibe claim that the added vibration means no tagging or pulling - GHD manage to achieve this too without the wobble! Premium straightening is largely due to the quality of the ceramic plates - the better the plates, the less pulling and tagging and also less damage to your hair.

Other Vibe features include:

  • The vibration on the plates can be switched on or off
  • Fast heat-up time
  • Auto shut-off feature kicks-in after 15 mins of inactivity
  • Available in black or baby pink
  • Comes complete with heat proof mat and tutorial DVD

Having had a bit of search, I’ve managed to find them in both black and pink in stock at Just Beautifully. I’ll update you when I find them elsewhere. If you’ve got a pair it’d be great to hear what you think about them - please do leave a comment.

BaByliss Pro 230 Radiance Straighteners - First Use Review

July 29, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

BaByliss RadianceThe Babyliss PR team have been in touch and sent us a pair of the latest BaByliss Pro 230 Radiance hair straighteners. So, here is Sarah’s first review…

Firstly on opening the box, the combination of the straighteners, heat protection mat and the instant storage pouch in red was great. Easy to store in a dressing table and also ideal for travelling. On unzipping the pouch and examining the straighteners they certainly have the “wow” factor - sleek, compact and red!!! Having read the instructions, (as there seemed to be a few different buttons and switches of which I wasn’t familiar with) which were very easy to follow, I switched them on.

As the instructions said, they were ready to use in 30 seconds. I selected a low heat setting and did not use the retractable fins, as I have quite fine hair. I straightened my hair and I was pleased with the initial result, however the real test would be if it stayed straight all day! The day was hot and humid, and having a natural wave in my hair I did not hold out much hope! However they proved me wrong my hair was still straight and had lasted all day without frizzing!!

I also straighted my two daughters hair. My eldest daughter has very thick hair, so I selected a higher temperature setting and used the retractable fins - which worked a treat. She had hair straight out of a salon! My younger daughter has very fine hair, so I selected the lowest temperature and no fins, again the result was impressive.

I was very impressed with my initial use of these straighteners due to the different settings that can be used. I am very careful about keeping my hair in good condition and the straighteners that I currently use have one setting hence I use them sparingly so as not to damage my hair. However with the Babyliss Pro 230 I would definitely use them more and also I think they are a good product for my daughters with their different hair types.

Next I can’t wait to try the Ionic steam function to see the results for the ultimate high-shine finish.

Sarah will publish another review in a couple of months when she’s used the Babyliss straighteners again and had chance to compare them against her GHD’s. Why not subscribe to our newsletter to ensure that you don’t miss it!

GHD Dark or GHD Pure

May 16, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

We usually expect GHD to launch a limited edition straightener in October - the hot pink model that is usually released to support the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity. However, they’ve surprised us by releasing two new, strictly limited editions called Dark and Pure. In effect you’ve got the latest GHD Mk IV model in a black or white high-gloss finish complete with a matching heat-resistant case. They’ll sell like hot cakes so if you want one (are you a dark or pure person?) you’d best go and order yours today from authorised dealers Jason Shankey or HQ Hair.

GHD Spa

March 5, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

We first heard about ghd spa via Bella Freud’s column in The Stella magazine supplement in The Sunday Telegraph. We’re always interested in new products from ghd as we run an existing site promoting their range of straighteners and we plan to feature them heavily when we (finally) get round to developing our haircare section on this site. Anyways, this is what the official ghd site has to say about ghdspa:

ghd is delighted to announce the launch of ghd spa: a brand new, groundbreaking range of scalp and hair care therapies, specifically developed for spa clients.

ghd spa grew out of a long term belief that wellness is closely connected to happiness in your personal appearance. We know that clients would like to leave a spa with total confidence in the way they look, and that extends to their hair. ghd spa now provides therapists with the knowledge, education and product to meet that demand.

ghd spa products are divided into four product ranges: IMMORTAL, PRAYER, SAVIOUR and TRINITY. Each range addresses the day-to-day needs of different hair types, including treatment to the scalp, from stressed, damaged and aging hair to oily, combination, tired and lacklustre hair conditions.

The ghd spa treatment menu comprises five treatments: age defying, emergency rescue, daily defence, combination and men’s experience, each designed to treat a client’s scalp and hair concerns from the treatment room, and put them on a six week personalised path to restoration.

It makes a lot of sense to have a hair facial in addition to a face facial (if that make sense at all!) and we’d expect other hair product companies to follow suit. Have you had a ghd spa experience? What did you think?
