Eco Trainers
March 10, 2008 by admin

We’ve got a sneakery feeling that so-called eco trainers could take off in 2008. Made from organic or recycled materials and sourced from ethical trade from around the world the ever-present trainer is going to become eco-friendly. Even global market producers are taking note too!
Following the success with the Air Jordan XX3 shoe, Nike is now producing a new trainer called Trash Talk - from the sole to the shoelaces, this shoe is produced not only from environmentally preferred materials but also recycled waste, with much of the latter coming from Nike’s own production facilities - scraps that would otherwise have been discarded.
One of the more popular brands in the eco footwear market is Veja and they’ve been receiving some good press for the Veja Volley - an eco trainer with a very stylish design harking back to 70’s Brasil. With a strong ethical background, Veja are helping to support nearly 100 families in a region of Brasil where the organic cotton used in the shoe is grown. We haven’t found too many shops that sell the eco trainers online but ethical goods store Adili.com has the full Volley range in stock including the Volley model.

I found a pair of those Veja trainers in Microzine, London… Terrific….
